Namby Pamby Meaning
Definition: Without strength or courage; childishly sentimental; effeminate in behavior or expression.

Origin of Namby Pamby
The first use of this expression was in the year 1725. It came from the title of a poem making fun of the works of Ambrose Phillips. Namby Pamby was a nickname for that author.
In 1725, Henry Carey was the first to put it in print.

Albion’s joy, Hibernia’s pride.

This example dialogue involves a husband and wife who are discussing possible new careers.
Bobby: I think I might be interested in a new career as well.

One friend is making fun of another for being afraid of bugs.

Andrew: What if it flies at me?
Aaron: It can’t hurt you. It literally would be impossible for it to hurt you.
