Seasons AP Style
The AP Stylebook holds that both seasons and their derivatives should be lowercase. This means that spring, summer, fall, and winter should all be lowercase along with any words that are formed from them, such as springtime, summertime, etc. For example,
- My favorite season is either summer or fall.
- It finally is starting to feel like springtime out here.
The one exception to this rule is when the season appears in a proper name. For example,
- I go to the Winter Olympics every four years.
- The Muskegon Winter Sports Complex is a great place to go luging.
